Leipzig Plagwitz in the 90s - press release

You dream all the time, but often you can't remember what you dreamed. In the period of upheaval in 1990, Erwin Stache wrote down some of his dreams and wrote them as little stories. He sent the exposés to Leipzig and to Cologne for television in the hope that people might be interested in filming the dream sequences. In fact, both answered positively, but Cologne was faster and the KAOS film and video team with Peter Kleinert and Marianne Tralau had a new program on Kanal 4, a political magazine - "Z", which is interested in a little absurdity with pictures and had tones. A total of twelve four-minute films were made in two years.
It was shot in Leipzig, Dresden and also in New York. The film editing was done in Cologne.

One assertion was: Cologne would be the western city most similar to the East. Later it was also said that Leipzig was the eastern city closest to the west.In any case, a very interesting east-west communication came about.
Erwin Stache, an exotic from the East, came up with pictures from a broken and run-down world, the GDR, where people despite (or because of) all the repressions had fun and hadn't lost their sense of humor. On the contrary, a very special coded language was established and still causes many misunderstandings between East and West, at least among the older generation.

One of the first films was: "Rolling Tones" by Erwin Stache and Christoph Bigalke. These and all the other twelve films were broadcast on RTL and Sat1 in 1992 and 1993. At this time the private television channels still had culture windows that could be filled with reports, magazines, politics, art and culture contributions.
"Rolling Sounds" - "A Sunday in Plagwitz" plays in Plagwitz in a way that can no longer be experienced today.
The film cut determines the melody. The organ pipes symbolize the Industrial area chimneys no longer smoking.
